Paper Plate Squid

Paper Plate Squid
This is a great project for small kids.

Supplies:
   Paper Plate
  Strips of Crepe Paper
  Glue
  Googly Eyes
  Paint

Cut the crepe paper into strips Cut the paper plate in half. Have your child paint their half of the plate however they may choose. Flip the plate over and along the entire straight edge apply a line of glue. Allow your child to place the strips as they choose, they may want to place some higher than others and if they want to layer just add more glue let them be creative. Flip plate back over apply the googly eyes and that's it you now have a squid!

Since you have an unused half of the plate do the project along  with your child this is helpful with smaller children as they can see what your doing and they'll want to do it to.

Crafting

I used to love art and making things but somewhere along the way I stopped. Now that I'm watching Izzy I have rediscovered my crafty side. From the beginning I wanted to make teaching him fun. I didn't want the intellectual side of him thrive at the expense of the creative side of him. Making things is great for his confidence he is so proud when he hands mommy one of his projects. I started with him at a  very early age with crafts and now he is becoming more independent. He has seen me help him with certain things before time and time again, and now he'll hold out his hands and say I do laura I do. It may take a few tries but he's very excited when he can do it all by himself. And mommy has used all of his many projects to decorate his room.
